Tassal shareholders have voted in favor of the company's proposed acquisition by Aquaculture Australia Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian seafood giant Cooke.

Some 84.92 percent of Tassal shareholders voted in favor of the acquisition scheme, leaving final approval with the Australian Court on Nov. 8.

Assuming that approval, the cash transaction will go ahead Nov. 21.

Cooke reached an agreement with the board of Tassal on Aug.15 to acquire all outstanding shares in the company after its first two attempts were rebuffed.
