Sustainable aquaculture fund Aqua-Spark is investing $9 million (€7.6 million) in Sea6 Energy's Series B funding round.
The money raised will go towards Sea6's vertically integrated seaweed production and processing operations.
Sea6's proprietary, fully mechanized SeaCombine cultivation system is touted as a first-of-its-kind method to scale seaweed production in the open ocean, and as a pivotal development for aquaculture.
Joining Aqua-Spark in the financing round is co-investor Singapore-based Silverstrand Capital.
Aqua-Spark's other investment include Dutch insect meal producer Protix and Icelandic Arctic char farmer Matorka. It also backs XpertSea, the seafood tech and financial services startup.
