Iceland-based Samherji Group increased its stake in Norwegian fishery group Nergård to 39.9 percent, while Norsk Sjømat increased its stake to 60.1 percent, the groups said Wednesday.

Nergård's new Samherji vessel on track for June arrivalNergård, an integrated fishery group whose business activities include catching, processing and sales, is northern Norway's second-largest of its kind.

Norsk Sjømat has been a co-owner of the group since 2010, while Samherji became co-owner in 2014.

"We want Nergård AS to develop from being a supplier of raw materials and semi-finished products to becoming a manufacturer of finished products,"  said Norsk Sjømat CEO Per Magne Grøndahl.
