Norwegian salmon farmer SalMar is acquiring fellow producer Norway Royal Salmon (NRS) and will merge the two companies.

NTS, which owns approximately 68.14 percent of the shares in NRS, has committed to attend and vote for the deal at the general meeting of NRS.

The merger is conditional on NRS Farming's takeover of SalmoNor being completed.

NRS and SalMar have several overlapping industrial interests, both in Norway, the west fjords of Iceland, and offshore.

"A merger between SalMar and NRS makes sense," said SalMar Chairman Leif Inge Nordhammer.
