AFK Systema, owned by Russian billionaire Vladimir Yevtushenkov -- the 41st richest man in Russia on the Forbes ranking list with a fortune of $3.4 billion (€2.8 billion) -- has acquired a 49-percent stake in Kamchatka-based Zarya fishing company, according to Kommersant News Agency.

The acquisition may lead to the emergence of a new major player in Russia’s Pacific salmon industry, which has up until now been characterized by a fragmented sector lacking modern processing and cold storage facilities, despite a massive annual harvest.
