Canada’s Cooke Aquaculture has emerged as a potential rival bidder to Brazilian meat JBS for Australia’s Huon Aquaculture with a deal not certain to get past regulatory authorities, the Australian Financial Review reports.

Investment banker David Williams from advisory firm Kidder Williams, which sources told the news agency is advising the Canadian giant on a potential bid, said that JBS bid could be derailed by Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB), according to the report.
