Nutreco-backed land-based salmon farmer Nordic Aqua Partners – which is building a land-based salmon farm in Ningbo on China's east coast – is on schedule, and already has plans to increase production capacity, the company said Friday.

Originally, Nordic Aqua Partners was planning to harvest 8,000 metric tons in the country by 2026.

In its latest update, the company said it was “upscaling” this business plan to 20,000 metric tons.

The first eggs are due to be stocked in the hatchery in the fourth quarter of 2021, with the first harvest set for the fourth quarter of 2023.
