Feed giant Nutreco, the parent company of aquaculture nutrition company Skretting, on Monday announced it is investing in Norwegian land-based salmon farming company AquaCon.

In the investment round, which also includes participation from Israel Corporation and AKVA Group, AquaCon raised $7.5 million (€6.5 million).

Strategically located in Maryland on the east coast of the United States, AquaCon’s Atlantic salmon farming facilities will be in close proximity to over 70 million consumers in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington D.C.

Since 2019, Nutreco has invested in five other land-based aquaculture projects.
