Norwegian salmon producers Norway Royal Salmon (NRS) and Midt-Norsk Havbruk are in merger talks, NRS confirmed to the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Speculation of the salmon merger was sparked after aquaculture services group NTS, whose majority shareholder is Helge Gaso, announced recently that it is considering separating out its wellboat and aquaculture services division.

NTS and and Norway Royal Salmon are reportedly "looking for a solution" for the salmon farming giants, a source told IntraFish.

NTS acquired Mid-Norsk Havbruk in 2017 and became the largest single shareholder in Norway Royal in early 2020 when it merged with the Froy Group.
