Second quarter operational earnings for Mowi's Chilean operations climbed 27 percent from a year earlier as the company benefited from strong demand, higher salmon prices and reduced supply in the division's main North American market.

Higher demand came as COVID-19 restrictions at restaurants eased in North America.

Operational earnings before interest and taxes in the second quarter (EBIT) came in at €14.9 million ($17.5 million) as prices for 3-4 pound D-Trim salmon in North America rose 47 percent from a year earlier.
