New England Seafood has acquired 100 percent of Grimsby-based whitefish processor Albert Darnell, the company’s CEO confirmed to IntraFish.
“It is about capacity,” Dan Aherne, CEO of New England Seafood, told IntraFish. “We’re growing and we need some additional space, so that’s really the driver.”
Traditionally Albert Darnell's focus is on processing cod and haddock for its mixed whitefish business ranging from traditional fish and chip shops to supplying high street retailers.
“We’re not a cod and haddock provider today but we are seeing good growth across our range species so we need more manufacturing space for our growth plans,” said Aherne.
"We
