Norwegian harvesting and processing giant Nergard reported a spike in its earnings for 2018, despite a decline in sales.

The newly released results show operating earnings climbed 40.8 percent on the year to NOK 283 million (€28.3 million/$251.9 million), while revenues declined 7.9 percent to just under NOK 2.5 billion (€250 million/$2.2 billion).

CEO Tommy Torvanger told IntraFish sister publication DN.no that harvesting operations from its five whitefish trawlers are doing well, but the company is lagging behind on its whitefish processing operations.
