Shipowner John Fredriksen, who is turning 75 this Friday, may be the richest Norwegian that has ever lived, Tradewinds reports. Fredriksen is also Mowi's largest shareholder, and owns 27 percent of the global salmon giant through Geveran Trading Co.

Norwegian magazine Kapital has published its annual list of the nation's richest people and estimates Fredriksen is worth NOK 113 billion ($14 billion), double anybody else on the list.

Mowi's CEO also earned the highest salary in 2018, according to an IntraFish ranking of CEO salaries for the largest public-listed seafood companies.
