Mowi's Chilean division reported a more than twofold increase in operational earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of €20.1 million ($19.3 million), helped by strong demand in key markets in the United States and Brazil.

Higher prices were partly offset by increased costs and lower volumes as harvests fell 17.5 percent against the opening three months of last year to 16,017 metric tons.

Prices were impacted by a lower share of contract business in the first quarter compared with a year earlier, and by the downgrading of fish quality because of disease-related sores.
