Mowi’s Canada East operation, which the company originally acquired last year under the name Northern Harvest, continued to pay off for the Oslo-based salmon giant, driving a significant portions of its earnings in the fourth quarter.
Mowi Canada East accounted for nearly 30 percent of the company's fourth-quarter operational earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) at €5.2 million ($5.9 million), and boosted harvest volumes in Canada to 12,239 metric tons gutted weight equivalent (GWE) in the fourth quarter, a nearly 22 percent increase from the fourth quarter a year prior, when the company harvested 10,036 metric tons gutted weight equivalent (GWE).
