Salmon farming giant Mowi expects the salmon market to become increasingly competitive, especially when it comes to value-added products, where the company lost around €7.1 million ($7.9 million) in sales during the second quarter of the financial year thanks to lower prices.

"There is a fierce competition in the finished products market, especially with smoked salmon products in France and Germany," said Mowi CEO Alf-Helge Aarskog.

The analyst team at Kontali Analyse has a similar impression, predicting a moderate 4 percent supply growth in the market in 2020.
