Hatch-backed Aquaculture technology venture Aquaconnect has secured $4 million (€3.4 million) in a pre-series A financing round led by Rebright Partners and Flourish Ventures.

AgFunder and 6G Capital also took part in the financing, along with existing investors Omnivore and Hatch.

"Here is another important milestone in our journey," Aquaconnect co-founder and CEO Rajamanohar Somasundaram said in a Linkedin post.

India-based Aquaconnect supplies data-driven farm advisory and marketplace solutions to fish and shrimp farmers through artificial intelligence and satellite remote sensing technologies.

It works with around 30,000 fish and shrimp farmers using AI-enabled predictive tools to help them increase their productivity, connecting them with companies along the value chain.

Last year as India went into COVID-19 lockdown, Aquaconnect launched a helpline for Indian shrimp farmers to assist them in navigating the supply, demand and logistics situation in the country.
