Until Covid-19 lockdown restrictions are lifted, Oslo-listed salmon farmer Leroy Seafood warned investors that the group will face higher costs on sales and distribution.

However, production in most regions was in line with previous guidance in the first quarter of 2020, except in Leroy Aurora, which was impacted by weather conditions and took a toll on price levels.

In total, the company harvested 39,400 metric tons of salmon and trout in the first quarter according to its trading update.

Whitefish catches for the year through Leroy’s wild harvesting company Havfisk increased 22 percent year-on-year to 25,000 metric tons, of which half was cod.

Leroy is managing the pandemic situation in a "satisfactory manner" so far. All its production divisions in farming, fisheries and processing are doing their utmost through downstream sales and distribution to ensure continuous service, said the company.

The complete first quarter report will be published on May 14.
