Leroy confirms interest in one of Norway's largest privately held salmon farming companies

Salmon farming and whitefish giant Leroy Seafood Group confirmed to IntraFish it was interested in acquiring one of Norway's largest privately held salmon farmers, SinkabergHansen.

However, its interest in a deal has now been put on hold thanks to a new 40 percent tax on farmed salmon proposed at the end of September by the Norwegian government.

"Right now there is no focus on that," Leroy Seafood CEO Henning Beltestad told IntraFish following the company's third quarter results presentation Tuesday.
