Turkish sea bass and sea bream producer Kilic is in the running to buy Greek competitor Nireus, its Executive VP Sinan Kiziltan told IntraFish.

In May 2015, Piraeus Bank, Alpha Bank, Eurobank and National Bank took 75 percent control of Nireus as part of a major restructuring plan to get the firm's financials back on track.

Expectations were they would divest their shares in the current financial year, however, so far no deal has been announced.

Kiziltan said Kilic is "actively considering" a takeover and that a deal could be concluded within six months, depending on banks.
