Inland Seafood Chief Operating Officer Bill Demmond follows a simple mantra when it comes to business: If you're not growing, you're falling backwards.

That's why, Demmond said, Georgia-based Inland Seafood, which describes itself as the largest seafood distributor in the US Southeast, recently acquired Houston, Texas-based Lonestar Seafood.

For the past three years, Demmond told IntraFish, Inland has been sending trucks to Houston, with live lobster being a large part of the company's business in Houston's Asiatown neighborhood.

Houston’s Asian population has grown substantially over the past 10 years, adding 25,000 people to the city since 2021, according to Census data.
