The UK-based protein producer Hilton Food Group is acquiring leading international smoked salmon producer Dutch Seafood Company B.V., which does business under the Foppen name.

The deal expands Hilton's presence in the seafood category, as well as allowing it a partnership with US seafood buying giant Costco, with which Foppen has a 15-year relationship.

To partly fund the acquisition, Hilton launched an equity placing to raise approximately £75 million (€87.8 million/$99.2 million).

The announcement follows Hilton’s acquisition of Hilton Seafood, formerly Icelandic Seachill, in October 2017, together with several years of sustained growth in seafood and plant-based foods by the business.
