Despite higher than expected mortality in its Scottish operations, Faroese salmon farming giant Bakkafrost posted a total operating profit (EBIT) of DKK 325 million (€43.7 million/$43.6 million) in the third quarter, a significant increase from the DKK 71 million (€9.5 million/$9.5 million) it posted in the same period a year ago.

While the group’s farming operations in the Faroes Islands saw an operational EBIT of DKK 444 million (€59.7 million/$59.6 million) – compared with DKK 135 million (€18.1 million/$18.1 million) last year – the Scottish operation increased losses to DKK 137 million (€18.4
