Land-based farmed salmon producer AquaBounty on Wednesday announced a slight loss in its second-quarter earnings as the company moves closer to scaling production of it genetically engineered AquAdvantage salmon.

The company reached another milestone in July, when it selected Pioneer, Ohio as the location for its next large-scale farm.

Construction on the facility, which will be built with annual production capacity of 10,000 metric tons -- around eight times the current Indiana facility's capacity -- is slated to begin within the next six months.
