France's competition authority, L'Autorité de la Concurrence, is fining 12 firms in the charcuterie sector, including Fleury Michon, a total of €93 million ($106.2 million) for being part of a price fixing cartel.

Surimi producer Fleury Michon -- which has a large presence in France's charcuterie business -- is one of the firms embroiled in the scandal and has been handed a fine of €14.8 million ($16.9 million).

The charges relate to the purchases of ham and cold meat products and not to the company's surimi division.
