The Mi'kmaq coalition of First Nations is aiming to make further seafood industry aquisitions with partners Premium Brands and is not ruling out moving into land-based salmon production in the future.

The partnership completed the acquisition of Canadian shellfish harvesting and processing giant Clearwater Seafood last week under a deal valued at approximately CAD 1 billion ($769 million/€650 million).

Elected every four years, Chief Terrance Paul has headed the Membertou community for the past 37 years and is clearly proud not only of acquiring one of North America's largest seafood companies, but also to be working together with a blue-chip firm such as Premium Brands.
