With production in the Faroes and Scotland, salmon farming giant Bakkafrost was keen to alert investors there would be no immediate impact on it from the new proposed 40 percent tax on Norwegian salmon production announced Wednesday.

The company released a notice to the Oslo Stock Exchange, where it is listed, saying it is only subject to tax in the countries in which it operates. This does not include Norway.

It did however point to a potential shift in its tax situation, as the Faroese government also mulls the tax rate it charges its own farmed salmon industry.
