Earnings at New Zealand seafood giant Sanford fell in 2021 as pandemic impacts continued to take a toll, but its farmed salmon operations offered a ray of hope.

The company, which has feet in whitefish harvesting, king salmon farming and mussel production, saw earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) fall 20.6 percent in its 2021 financial year to NZD 52.6 million (€32.7 million/$37 million).
