The Bakkafrost Group's fourth quarter results reflect the sting of a double biological hit across its salmon farms in the Faroes and Scotland.

"Exceptional mortalities" reduced the company's potential profit despite sky-high salmon prices.

The company delivered a 25 percent increase in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization to DKK 270 million (€36.3 million/$41.1 million) as operating revenue rose 31 percent to DKK 1.5 billion (€202 million/$228 million) on strong salmon prices and big harvest increases.

Those increases constituted a 30 percent increase in the Faroes to 20,694 metric tons head-on, gutted and 45 percent in Scotland to 5,122 metric tons.
