Netherlands-based seafood companies Almelo and Van Meines have announced they will join forces.
The new company will operate under the name AMfish. Both owners Piet Beekhuizen and Mick van Meines will remain involved in the company as a shareholders.
Operational management of AMfish will pass to Frans Kegge and Marco Beekhuizen.
Changes to the foodservice and retail markets were cited as the main drivers behind the merger, as consumers become more aware and demanding about the food they eat, particularly in relation to health and sustainability matters, the companies said.
