New Zealand seafood giant Sanford continues to be battered by the COVID-19 pandemic, seeing its profit shrink 54 percent in the first half of the year.

The company reported adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) for the first half of the year of NZD 10.7 million (€6.3 million/$7.7 million), 54 percent lower than the same period a year ago, which largely preceded the impact of COVID-19.

Challenging conditions continued during the six months due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the demand for seafood and on international supply chains, the group said.
