Clearwater Seafoods on Tuesday announced it sold two of its eight offshore lobster licenses in Atlantic Canada to the Membertou First Nation for CAD 25 million ($18.9 million/€16.1 million).

Membertou Chief Terry Paul called the agreement "historic" and added the investment provides additional employment and growth opportunities for the First Nations members.

Clearwater and Membertou already have operating agreements for other species, Indigenous employment, and procurement commitments.
