Chilean salmon farmer Blumar emerged from the first half of the year with more red numbers, as most of the market struggled with weaker-than-normal prices.

Losses amounted to $30.9 million (€26 million), more than double those during the same period last year.

The losses were partly impacted by a 22 percent drop in salmon prices to $4.77 (€4.04) per kilogram.

Blumar was penalized for its mass escape on June 28 at its Caicura 149 Farm in the Los Lagos region of Chile.
