Chilean salmon farmer, Salmones Camanchaca was “heavily impacted” by the harmful algal blooms that took place in the Renihue and Comau fjords in the Los Lagos region during the first quarter, driving it to a $7.4 million (€6.1 million) loss as a result.

Three of the company’s sites in the Renihue Fjord were affected by algae blooms throughout the Chilean summer of 2021, which impacted biomass growth.
