Bumble Bee Foods has settled with broadline distributor US Foods over claims the tuna giant colluded with other major tuna companies in a widespread conspiracy to fix tuna prices.
US Foods' suit was one of more than 70 accusing the “big three” US tuna companies — StarKist, Bumble Bee and Tri-Union Seafoods — of fixing the price of canned tuna in the United States.
"Plaintiff US Foods, Inc. and Defendant Bumble Bee Foods, LLC have agreed to resolve Plaintiff’s claims against Defendant," said court documents.
The terms of the settlement were not made public.
Attorneys for Bumble Bee are also working to dismiss an ongoing class-action lawsuit filed by consumer, or end-payer, plaintiffs over the price-fixing scandal.
