Salmon farmer Bakkafrost Group posted a massive increase in earnings in the second quarter of the year as global salmon markets begin to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Faroese group posted operational earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of DKK 534 million (€71.8 million/$84.2 million) -- a 79.2 percent increase over the second quarter last year.

Revenues rose by an equally impressive 42.7 percent rise in revenues to DKK 1.6 billion (€215.1 million/$252.4 million).

Total harvest volumes were 28,200 metric tons gutted weight, creeping up just 1 percent over last year, with 17,600 fish harvested in the Faroes and 10,600 at the company's Scottish operations.
