Land-based salmon company Atlantic Sapphire is asking for $5 million (€4.6 million) in public funds to "start the next phase" of development, however, the company has some criteria to meet in order to receive the aid, including job creation, Miami Today reported.

The company would need to create 237 jobs, each paying an average annual salary of $60,000 (€55,500) not counting benefits. Benefits are estimated at $11,500 (€10,600). Atlantic Sapphire is to add 97 jobs this year alone, 64 jobs in 2021 and 76 in 2022.
