Chilean farming company AquaChile in June surprised the market with the unexpected acquisition of Salmones Magallanes for $255 million (€218.2 million), a move that will “most probably, and hopefully, kick off the very anticipated consolidation era in Chile,” AquaChile Chairman Victor Hugo Puchi told IntraFish.

The Magallanes deal slipped under the radar while all eyes were looking at the sale of Friosur, which was acquired by Los Fiordos for $229 million (€194 million).
