Shares of AquaBounty, the developer of genetically-engineered salmon eggs, surged on the NASDAQ Friday with the announcement from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the company can import, grow and sell GE salmon on the US market.

AquaBounty's shares were up more than 115 percent by 3:30 pm CET, lifting the company's market cap from $34.2 million (€ 30.4 million) on Friday morning to more than $80 million (€ 71.2 million).
