Nicaragua's seafood may not be universally known, but the country has found itself in the seafood spotlight with two major global players inking deals in recent months.

French supermarket chain Carrefour has enough faith in shrimp from the central American country to include it in a new quality mark being launched in November this year, along with shrimp from Ecuador and Honduras.

Carrefour selected its Nicaraguan partner after being convinced that it worked to strict traceability criteria conditions, including the production of shrimp without the use of antibiotics.
