After three years of failed attempts to sell the company, executives at Alaska pollock giant American Seafoods are reportedly embarking on hunt for companies to acquire in an effort to diversify the group into new species.

Sources told IntraFish the move could make the company more attractive to potential buyers, who reportedly have found the company's aging fleet and singular focus on Alaska pollock hurdles to a purchase.

In February 2019, American announced it was searching for a new investor to replace private equity investor Bregal.
