Aquaculture equipment supplier Akva Group has signed up for a $130 million (€115 million) contract to construct a huge land-based salmon farm in the United States and will be investing €3 million ($3.4 million) in equity if other financing comes through.

The new project, from Norway-based AquaCon, has its eyes on a potential site on Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, with potential for up to 100,000 metric tons of production, AquaCon Executive Chairman Henrik Tangen told IntraFish earlier this month.
