Veramaris is the first microalgae oil producer to be certified under the joint Aquaculture Stewardship Council and Marine Stewardship Council (ASC-MSC) seaweed standard.

The certification confirms that Veramaris's operation minimizes the impacts on the environment, with good labor conditions and positive impacts for the community.

The company has invested over $200 million (€177.4 million) in its processing plant in Blair, Nebraska, which makes omega-3 oil from marine algae using regular sugar as the source of energy.

Veramaris received US Food and Drug Administration (USDA) approval in June, clearing the way for the sale of its feed to US fish farmers.
