UK-based Roslin Technologies is investing $1.6 million (€1.3 million) in Singapore-based Protenga, which farms black soldier flies to produce animal feed and fertilizer.

Roslin Technologies, together with Protenga, is building a facility near its Edinburgh, Scotland, headquarters that will focus on applying enhanced breeding technologies to develop improved insect lines, the company said.

The investment aligns with Roslin Technologies’ focus on developing alternative protein sources for livestock, aquaculture and pets.
