Russia plans to be self-reliant on domestic feed for around 90 percent of its aquaculture requirements by the end of the decade after significant investment in a number of new production facilities, the country’s federal fisheries agency said.
More than 10 separate investment projects have already been announced, with cumulative capacity to produce up to 165,000 metric tons of feed for the salmon sector alone, which will help to raise the self-sufficiency of Russia’s aquaculture sector from around 25 percent last year.
