Russia’s share of the global fishmeal export market rose to 5.5 percent based on data for the nine months through September, up from 4.3 percent last year, ranking the country among the world’s top five suppliers of the key feed ingredient, according to a national industry association.
The Fishery Shipowners Association (FSA) said Russia exported 133,000 metric tons of fishmeal in the first nine months of 2024. Its main export markets are South Korea, China and Belarus.
The industry group estimates full-year exports of at least 160,000 metric tons, which would be a 12 percent increase over the 2023 total of slightly more than 143,000 metric tons.
