Robert Downey Jr.-backed insect protein company Ynsect expects to start production at its Evry, France, site near Paris in 2022, the latest sign that the well-funded group is aiming to produce volumes that could play a significant role in aquaculture feed ingredients.
The group, which is working closely with Nutreco-owned aquaculture feed giant Skretting, expects to produce 35,000 metric tons of meal from the facility, and double that volume in a second phase of construction.
The site will cost around €180 million ($219 million) to construct, spokesperson Anais Maury told IntraFish.
