Norwegian Mycelium (NoMy) has established a subsidiary in Japan with the aim of selling its alternative food and feed ingredients to industries including land-based aquaculture, a company official told IntraFish.

NoMy, a startup which uses fermentation technology to produce ingredients from fungi, has identified a need for cost-competitive, sustainable feed ingredients in Japan, a market that relies heavily on imports, said David Quist, chief explorer at the Norway-based company.

“Here in Japan, we see significant opportunities for feed ingredients, particularly as the land-based aquaculture gathers steam in the country,” Quist told IntraFish.
