Netherlands-based DSM, one of the world's leading health and nutrition groups, is hoping to leverage is growing portfolio to improve aquaculture sustainability via one of the most important steps in the value chain.

DSM, which posted revenue of €9.2 billion ($9.7 billion) in 2021, works across the value chain, but with aquaculture companies looking for ways to improve efficiency and reduce impacts, the group is focusing most of its efforts on feed.

With between 50-80 percent of the total footprint of protein production coming from feed, "[it is] a really great place to start,” Benedict Standen, head of aquaculture marketing global at DSM, told IntraFish.
