Last week's failure to agree on the distribution of quota for three key pelagic species is not good news to feed companies who rely on the species, but executives at the three largest feed suppliers expressed cautious optimism that a resolution may be forthcoming early next year.

While representatives from the so-called Coastal States -- the United Kingdom, Norway, Faroe Islands, Iceland, the European Union and Russia -- concluded last week that the overall Northeast Atlantic herring, blue whiting and mackerel catches next year should follow advice from the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), negotiators failed
